Terms of Use

Effective date: October 22, 2026

Last updated: October 22, 2026

Welcome to Write It Off. These terms are the agreement between you and Arena Innovation, LLC ("Arena Innovation," "we," "us") for your use of Write It Off at writeitoff.app (the "Service"). Write It Off is provided by Arena Innovation, LLC and offered under the Arena Accounting brand. Arena Innovation, LLC is the company you're contracting with, and it's the merchant that bills your subscription. We've tried to keep them short and readable. Please read them, especially the parts in bold.

When you create an account and check the box saying you agree, or when you use the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Write It Off.

1. What Write It Off is, and what it isn't

Write It Off helps you capture business receipts and purchases, see what a cost might qualify as, keep track of the records an accountant may ask for, and export a packet (PDF and spreadsheet) for your accountant.

Write It Off is informational only. It is not tax, legal, or accounting advice. In particular:

  • It does not prepare or file tax returns.
  • It does not approve deductions or guarantee that any deduction will be allowed. Results are possibilities and conditions, for example "may qualify if…," with a confidence level and a bottom line such as "Likely yes," "Likely no," or "More information needed." Results may use hedged wording such as "You can likely…". A "likely" result is still only a suggestion.
  • Results are tailored to the business type you choose in the app (sole proprietor or single-member LLC filing Schedule C, S corporation, C corporation, partnership, or "not sure"). If the business type you pick is wrong or out of date, results may not fit your situation, so keep it current.
  • Always confirm with your accountant or another qualified tax professional before you claim anything. You, and your tax professional, are responsible for what goes on your return.
  • The app, its exports, and receipt PDFs carry this notice: "Informational only. Not tax, legal, or accounting advice. Write It Off does not prepare or file returns and does not guarantee any deduction will be allowed. Confirm with an accountant before claiming anything."
  • Results come from an AI model working from a curated set of IRS reference notes. AI can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. It can misread a receipt, miss a fact, or misapply a rule. Check every detail, including amounts, dates, and merchants read from photos.
  • Using Write It Off doesn't make you a client of Arena Innovation or of Arena Accounting, and it doesn't create an accountant-client relationship.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract to use Write It Off. Write It Off is designed for small business owners and self-employed people in the United States, and it's offered only in the United States.

If you use Write It Off for a business, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.

3. Your account

  • Give a real email address you can reach, and confirm it. Some features, including AI reads and checkout, only work after your email is confirmed.
  • Keep your password and sign-in links private. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away at margy.lam@arenainnovation.io if you think someone else has gotten in.
  • One person per account, please.

4. Acceptable use

Please use Write It Off honestly and only for its purpose. Don't:

  • upload content you don't have the right to share, or other people's private information beyond what a receipt normally shows;
  • use the Service to create false or misleading records, or to support tax fraud or any other illegal activity;
  • try to get around plan limits, usage caps, or payment, including by opening extra accounts;
  • try to break, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the Service, or reach data that isn't yours;
  • use bots or scripts to send large volumes of requests, or try to trick the AI into ignoring its rules;
  • resell or give others access to the Service without our written permission; or
  • upload anything harmful, such as malware.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules (see section 10).

5. Your content

  • Your receipts, photos, notes, and answers stay yours. You give us permission to store, process, and transmit them only as needed to run the Service for you. That includes sending them to our AI and other service providers, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • You're responsible for making sure you have the right to upload what you upload.
  • You can delete saved items at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy).
  • Please keep your own copies of important records. Use the export features, and keep original receipts as long as your accountant or the law requires. Write It Off is not a guaranteed long-term archive.

6. Free use, plans, and limits

  • Free: a free account includes 1 AI scan for the life of the account (not per month). Follow-up answers on that same scan don't use another one. Recording a "known write-off" yourself doesn't use a scan.
  • Write It Off Pro: paid plans are offered monthly and annually, at $9 per month or $88 per year. The current price is always shown on the pricing page and at checkout before you pay.
  • Fair-use limits: to keep the Service running and affordable, all accounts have usage caps. Today these include up to 75 new scans per calendar month on paid plans and a daily limit of 15 AI reads per day. The app tells you when you hit a limit and when it resets. We may adjust limits, and we'll tell you about any change that reduces what a paid plan includes.
  • Features, such as Google Drive saving or sending a PDF to your accountant, may change over time.

7. Subscriptions, renewal, and cancellation

  • Payments are handled by Stripe. Arena Innovation, LLC bills your subscription through Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly), and Stripe will charge your payment method at the then-current price until you cancel.
  • You can cancel anytime in Settings, under Manage billing, which opens Stripe's secure billing page. There you can also change plans, update your card, and see invoices.
  • If you cancel, you keep full use of and access to your paid plan through the end of the month or year you've already paid for. After that, your plan doesn't renew and you won't be charged again.
  • If a payment fails, your paid features may pause until the payment goes through.
  • Price changes: if we change the price of your plan, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
  • Sales tax: we don't collect sales tax on Write It Off subscriptions, so none is added at checkout.
  • No refunds: payments aren't refundable, including for a partial month or year or time you didn't use, except where the law requires a refund. Because you keep access through the period you've paid for, cancelling simply stops the next charge.
  • Promotions: if you get a free or discounted period from a promo code, the terms shown with that offer apply, including what happens when it ends. Unless the offer says otherwise, a promo period converts to a paid plan automatically when it ends unless you cancel first, and we show this with the offer.

8. Third-party services

Write It Off relies on other companies, including Stripe (payments), Google (optional Drive saving), Supabase (storage and sign-in), Vercel (hosting and AI routing), the AI model providers, and Resend (email). Your use of a connected service like Google Drive is also covered by that company's own terms. We're not responsible for third-party services, but we choose them with care.

9. Our property

The Service, including its software, design, text, and the "Write It Off" name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service while your account is in good standing. They don't give you any other rights in it. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

10. Ending your use

  • You can stop using Write It Off at any time. Cancel any paid plan in Settings, then email us to delete your account.
  • We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we must for legal reasons, or if we stop offering the Service. When we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to export your saved items. If we close your account without cause, or shut down the Service, we'll refund the unused, prepaid part of your current billing period on a pro-rated basis. This is the only exception to the "no refunds" rule in section 7.
  • Sections 1, 5 (last bullet), 9, 11, 12, 13, and 15 continue after your account ends.

11. No warranties

Write It Off is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its results will be accurate or accepted by any tax authority.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • We aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, tax penalties, interest, or additional tax owed, arising from your use of, or reliance on, Write It Off.
  • Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) $50.

Some states don't allow certain limits on liability. In those states, these limits apply only as far as the law permits.

13. Indemnity

If you misuse Write It Off or break these terms, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, as far as the law allows.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Write It Off changes. We'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Write It Off after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, you can cancel and stop using the Service.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before filing anything, please email us. Most problems can be solved quickly that way.

You and we agree to individual binding arbitration. Except for a small-claims case, or if you opt out as described below, any dispute arising out of these terms or your use of the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration between you and Arena Innovation, LLC alone, and not in court. The arbitrator decides the dispute under the laws of the State of Oklahoma. The arbitrator's decision is final, except where the law allows a court to review it.

Small-claims court. Either you or we may bring an individual claim in small-claims court instead of arbitration, if the claim qualifies and stays in that court.

Class-action waiver. Disputes are individual only. You and we waive any right to bring or take part in a class action, class arbitration, or other representative proceeding.

30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice within 30 days after you first agree to these terms. Mail it to Arena Innovation, LLC, 519 SW 4th St, Ste 105 #2131, Moore, OK 73160. Include your name, the email address on your account, and a statement that you opt out of arbitration. If you opt out, this arbitration agreement does not apply to you. A dispute that is not arbitrated will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Cleveland County, Oklahoma, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction.

16. Other terms

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Write It Off. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later. You can't transfer these terms to someone else without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, sale, or similar business change.
